18-Year-Old In N.Z. Squad

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The 18-year-old national junior badminton champion, J. Compton, of Wellington, has been included in the New Zealand squad from which the team to play Japan in a Thomas Cup first round tie in Dunedin in October will be named.

Compton and W. Johns, of Auckland, are the only players in the squad who have not previously represented New Zealand.

The squad, announced yesterday by the national selectors (Miss N. Fleming and Messrs H. B. Lubransky and P. D. Skelt) is:— L. Bristol (Manawatu), Compton, O. Clegg (Taranaki), D. B. Higgins (Wellington), G. Hinton (Otago), Johns, K. Long (Auckland), and R. H. Purser (Taranaki).
