SQUASH SEEDS
Henderson Tops List
With the title-holder. D. R. Preston, in Canada, and other winners of outstanding ability M. J. Simons and G. A. Davidson, also away from Christchurch, the 1966 Christchurch closed squash racket* champion could come from any one of several candidates. J. Henderson, L. G. Milne, J. H. N. Pine and R. M. Garrett have been seeded in that order in a draw of 16. while D J. Triggs, at present ranked fifth in Christchurch, must have a very good chance of repeating his success of 19.
Another previous winner, the veteran left-hander R. G. Pattlnson, has also entered, and he has shown signs recently of regaining much of his Ana touch.
However, if at his best— and recently he has been In splendid form—lt seems probable that Henderson will justify his top seeding. He is Inclined at times to lack concentration and to play a Mttie carelessly, but he appeals as having a better all-court game than his rivals, moves beautifully, and has the ability to control from front court.
Henderson and Milne have more shots than Pine, Garrett and Triggs but this trio are aH tenacious and determined players and some very long matches seem likely. 3. G. Foulds and Pattinson may prove the best of those unseeded. Large entries totalling near'y 100 have been received for the championships which begin tonight and continue throughout the week with the finals at the Chester street courts on Friday night.
