Naming Of Dean
The Bishop-elect of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt) last evening said he hoped to be able to announce the appointment of a new Dean of Christchurch soon after he was consecrated as Bishop on August 24. The bishop appointed the Dean, with the concurrence of the chapter and the standing committee, he said. He said that because a new Dean would be entitled to three months’ notice before taking up the new post, it would be at least late November before Christchurch had a new Dean. From July 31, the Rev. C. L. Dobbs would be at the Cathedral to look after the congregation, he said.
