11 In Big Steeples
(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. A small field of 11 has accepted for the Australian Grand National! Steeplechase to be run at Flemington today. The favourite for the 15,300dollar race is McEwan, the runner-up in last Saturday’s Grand National Hurdles. The only New Zealand-bred runner is the little-fancied Accuse. The field la:— AUSTRALIAN GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE, 15,360 dollars'; 3m. If.—Royal Rennie 10-8; Dark Gemimi 10-3; First Shuffle 10-1; McEwan 9-12; El Carum 9-8; Lagos 9-6; Dest'lu 9-5; Accuse 9-4; Maileur, Spanish Main, Windsor Elm 9-0.
