YOUNG READERS

Any child who has suffered the pangs of curiosity about other people will understand the feelings of Zippo, a little monkey who lived in a zoo on MONKEY ISLAND by Jane Rietveld (Angus and Robertson 48pp). Zippo had a lovely home with food and toys but he was never happy because he so much wanted to know about the homes of the children who came to look at the monkeys. One day he escaped, and was taken home by a little boy, so at last he found out the answers to his questions. Illustrated by the author, this is suitable for 3-7 year olds.
