Ban On Prams

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 8. Large prams will not be carried on Railways Road Services suburban buses from October 1. The assistant superintendent (Mr B. Kempton) said this would bring the Railways Department into line with most municipal bus services.

The type of pram the department is banning is “the large English type, which has wheel diameters of more than 12 inches, and high • sprung springs and handles.”

The “excessive size and weight” of these prams made then unsuitable for

cartage on buses, Mr Kempton said.
