Active 101-Year-Old
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 8. The pace and excitement of modern life does not bother Mrs Flora Barton who celebrated her 101st birthday today. Proving that she can not only move with the times but enjoy herself as well, Mr Barton spent last summer cruising the Waitemata in a friend’s launch, always catching her share of fish. Mrs Barton has no fear of
trying any modern conveniences. She enjoys watching television and thinks her electric blanket is wonderful. She even attributes her success at making scones to self-raising flour, but her son, Mr W. H. Barton, says her scones were perfect long before such flour was perfected. Last year Mrs Barton who has never worn glasses, knitted herself a bright red cardigan for her 100th birthday. This year she has just finished a dress and jacket.
