HOCKEY TITLE
Vital Games Today
With only two rounds remaining before the competition is divided into the top and bottom four teams, today’s senior men’s hockey match between old rivals, High School Old Boys and Woolston A, takes on additional significance. These teams are at present second and third equal, respectively, but Woolston is only half a point ahead of the fifth team.
On present form Woolston is favoured to win and the internationals, B. R. Judge, N. H. Hobson and P. G. Bygrave, should test the Old Boys defence.
The competition leaders, Hagley Old Boys, may be hard-pressed by Sydenham. The Thomson and Clark brothers (for Hagley) have shown considerable goal-scor-ing ability but Sydenham has already caused upsets this season and its forwards will require close attention. University should win against Selwyn and Harewood is likely to earn another point against Woolston B.
