SIX GAMES IN N.Z.
Schoolboys League Tour A New South Wales schoolboy Rugby League team will play six matches in New Zealand during the last two weeks of the school holidays, beginning late next month. The tour will begin at Greymouth on August 28 and end on Sunday, September 11, with a match against a New Zealand under-15 team at Huntly. The touring team will play two matches in Christchurch against Canterbury on August 31 and a Southern XIII on Sunday, September 4. Other matches will be played against Auckland (September 10) and a combined Waikato-Bay of Plenty team at Rotorua (September 7). This will be the second tour by a New South Wales under-15 team. In 1963 a team drawn from Sydney schools toured this country, losing the only test to New Zealand, 3-6, at the Show Grounds.
The following year a New Zealand under-15 team made a reciprocal tour of New South Wales. The test series was lost and New South Wales holds the Motorways Cup donated by Motorways, Ltd., for competition between Rugby League schoolboys in New Zealand and New South Wales.
