Man With Bath In Barrow In Collision With Car

Peter Anderzejewski, of 131 . Antigua street, was wheeling home a heavy, porcelain bath in a wheelbarrow yesterday when he, wheelbarrow and bath were involved in a collision with a car.

Mr Anderzejewski was at first believed to have suffered a fractured leg. However, it was not broken, and he was sent home after treatment at the Christchurch Hospital One leg of the bath was broken off.

The accident happened outside 193 Simeon street. Mr Anderzejewski was about to cross the road. The car driver pulled up suddenly, but could not avoid hitting the barrow, causing it to topple over, on top of Mr Anderzejewski’s leg. It took two police constables to lift the bath back on to the barrow. Mr Anderzejewski told the motorist that he wanted to get the bath home—more than a mile from the scene of the accident.

The policemen found transporting the bath in the wheelbarrow very Siow and heavy work. They found a parking place for it. The bath is expected to arrive at Mr Anderzejewski’s place today.
