Harrison Fund
Donations received in Christchurch in the national appeal for the John Harrison Memorial Fund now total £11,813. The appeal will close on July 16. Yesterday “The Press” received £320, making £4604 since the appeal was launched.
Contributions through “The Press” yesterday included £25 from the J. J. Construction Company, Ltd.; £3O from the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd.; £3 Ofrom the management and staff of Coker's Hotel: £5O from Quill Morris, Ltd.; £l5 from the knitting room staff of Lane, Walker, Rudkin, Ltd.; £lO 10s from the Davis Gelatine, Ltd. Social Club; and £lO each from the University of Canterbury Tramping Club, D. L. Ensor, J. R. Todbunter, and two anonymous donors.
Other donations received in Christchurch yesterday included £5O from the Hereford street branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., where one of the missing climbers, Bruce Fergusson. worked, and £25 from the bank’s staff; £5O from the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, and £46 from the firm’s staff. One of the trustees, Mr A. H. McCormack, received £49 yesterday.
