New System In Operation

A new electronic tentacle is reaching out to help protect North America and Western Europe against sneak missile attack, the United States Air Force announced.

An Air Force spokesman said that a directional 84ft dish antenna began operating “within the last few weeks” at the ballistic missile early warning system station at Clear.

It is part of the North American Air Defence Command (N.0.R.A.D.). The new radar unit which weighs 185 tons, is said to be able to track a 16in-long piece of wire at a distance of 2500 miles.
