Brigadier Desmond Young Dead
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SARK (Channel Islands), June 27. Brigadier Desmond Young, author of the best-seller “Rommel,” died at his home here today, aged 74. His biography of the German desert commander, FieldMarshal Erwin Rommel, was used for the story of the film, “The Desert Fox.” Critics said that Young—himself a former British Bth Army officer, captured in the North African campaign against Rommel’s Afrika Korps—set up the German general as “a blue-eyed god who could do no wrong.”
