Subritzky House
Sir, —Your correspondent, Gladys M. Goodall, is correct in saying that Subritzky House has not been handed over to the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. At Lyttelton yesterday, Mi - Charles Subritzky said that he had now been informed of this since I wrote the article about the family in “The Press” last week. Incidentally, he pointed out that his name is spelt Subritzky and without the “s” in the middle. The mistake was a common one, he said. Since the article was written, Mr Subritzky had verified a point of interest that his family line (originally Sobieski) before changing in New Zealand to Subritzky, is directly descended from King John Sobieski, the last Polish king. The Polish liner Sobieski which took troops to the Second World War from Lyttelton, will be recalled by many.— Yours, etc;, SHIPPING REPORTER. June 28, 1966.
