_ Canada's Minister of 1 National Health and Welfare (Mrs Judy V. La Marsh) will visit Christchurch on July 21., She will be entertained at a reception in the evening, j jointly sponsored by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. Commander L S. Monro, previously first lieutenant of the naval survey ship Lachlan, has been appointed her new captain. He succeeds Commander W. J. Doole, who has been appointed to the Ministry of Defence in Weilington—(P.A.) Mr C. J. Tustin, of Wellington. Dominion honorary treasurer of the N.Z.R.S.A.. will leave on Saturday to attend i the triennial conference of i the British Commonwealth Ex- ; I Services League in London, i—(PA.) []
Professor P. J. Lawrence will represent the CanterburyUniversity Council on the; nursing education committee; of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, and Miss R. F.C. Tyndall will represent the council on the university chaplaincy committee. Mr J. F. Rhoades, assistant chief inspector of the Ministry of Works, will succeed Mr J. F. More, who will retire as chief inspector on June 30. Born at Blenheim, Mr Rhoades joined the Ministry at Christchurch, and after war service with the Bomber Command, during which he won the D.F.C., became accountant to Government superannuation funds and an investigating officer in the Treasury and the Army i Department. r
