Deerstalkers’ Shoot

North Canterbury defeated Buller in a deerstalkers’ interbranch shoot held at the deerstalkers’ range at Kaituna on Saturday. North Canterbury scored a total of 1136 points out of a possible 1500, as against 1024 points scored by Buller. Two teams of 10 men competed, firing a total of 30 shots each at ranges of 100 and 200 yards in prone, sitting and standing positions, including snap-shooting. The new deer silhouette targets were used.

Top scorer of the day was M. Alley, of Buller, followed by K. McTaggart (Buller) and L. Perham (North Canterbury). The teams were: Buller, M. Alley, J. Mockett, S. Stacey, M. Mitchell, C.
