Sale Of Beer By Meter

(Special Crspdt. N.Z P. 4 > LONDON, June 26. The Government is to ask Parliament this week to approve an order which will authorise the sale of draught beer and cider in containers or glasses not stamped as legal measures by the Weights and Measures Department. A Board of Trade official says the order ensures that the customer will still be able to see that he is getting a full pint or half-pint in an authorised measure. This is because the glass measure—called a beer meter —in the dispensing machine is visible to the customer, and will be certified as a proper measure by the Weights and Measures Department. Some publicans already use dispensing machines but they must serve the liquor in stamped glasses or mugs.
