Trading On Exchanges Begins Quietly
Trading on New Zealand stock exchanges started quietly yesterday. Turn-over was down, but the range was moderately wide. The announcement that overseas stocks could again be traded caused no real excitement. Second-rank stocks have attracted more attention on the restricted market, and they again featured in yesterday’s trading. Key stocks did slightly better than the rest of the market. The steadier undertone continued. Bank of New Zealand Finance rose 3d to Ils 9d, Dominion Breweries recovered 2d to 17s 2d, New Zealand Insurance at 23s 7d and South British at 30s 5d each rose Id, Bell Radio gained 6d to 24s 6d, Motor Specialties recovered Id to 12s 9d, New Zealand Sea Products Id to Is 9d and Ross and Glendining rose 3d to a new high level of 15s. K.P.G. fell i another Id to 5s 9d—its lowest point since late March.
