VIETNAM MEDAL READY

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, June 27. Australian and New Zealand troops serving in Vietnam are to be able to wear the medal which the South Vietnamese Government has awarded to all forces serving in South Vietnam. The Prime Minister of

New Zealand (Mr Holyoake) and the Prime Minister of Australia (Mr Holt) announced this in a joint statement tonight.

The two Prime Ministers said the Queen had approved the acceptance and wearing of the medal. The medal is a sixpointed star in white enamel with a back-

ground of gold enamel. The centre of the medal features a map of Vietnam, In gold on a green background, with the red flames of freedom superimposed. The ribbon is of green and white vertical stripes. The medal is awarded for six months’ service in the war.
