The Canterbury University Council yesterday expressed good wishes to its Chancellor (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren), on his retirement as Bishop of Christchurch, and to Mrs Warren. Mr C. E. Fenwick, who is not seeking re-election to the Canterbury University Council, was thanked yesterday by the council for his services. Tributes were paid to his membership since 1951, his sponsorship of the Rutherford portrait fund, help with the Percival memorial fund, and his representation of the university (which he will continue) on the industrial development department advisory committee, the Hillmorton High School board, and the Canterbury Museum Trust Board. Professor A. Crowther and Professor A. S. Carrington have been elected Professorial Board representatives on the Canterbury University Council, and Mr H. A. Montgomery has been appointed lecturers’ representative on the Professorial Board.
