HOUSE WRECKED
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 26. A gang armed with crowbars wrecked the interior of a house in Powell street, Avondale, on Saturday night. They smashed about 40 windows, tore wallpaper and ripped cupboard doors from their hinges while the tenants, five young men, were out at a party. The intruders , set alight to the cupboard
doors in the lounge, where they also tried to burn the telephone. Four kitchen chairs were stolen. The owner, Mr B. Doyle, found the house a shambles when he was called today. “They went through and wrecked it systematically,” he said. He had no idea of the cost of repairing the damage but said it would be more than £lOO.
The police are investigating.
