Appeal To Be Opened

An appeal for the dependents of Mr John Harrison, the well-known Christchurch mountaineer who was killed by an avalanche during rescue operations for the four missing climbers on Mount Rolleston last week will be opened in Christchurch soon.

Arrangements are now being made and an official announcement is expected soon.

Many inquiries about an appeal have been received by “The Press” and on Friday a Christchurch businessman (Mr S. E. Boanas) wrote enclosing a cheque for £25. The cheque will be forwarded when the appeal is officially opened. A North Island Rotary club has also raised £4O at a recent function and this will be added to any fund.
