Recovery By Lincoln

LINCOLN COLLEGE 8: A. Warren and D. J. Davidson tries; J. M. Keoghan a conversion. UNIVERSITY B 3: B. McNeil a tryindiscriminate kicking by both teams and bad handling by both back-lines were primarly responsible for the poor quality of Rugby In the first spell. The scoreless first half was devoted to line-outs and much airless booting of the ball. University B was first to throw off the shackles and appeared certain to win. But Lincoln College gradually assumed control in the later stages, and deserved its victory. W. Tapsell and W. Thompson gave fine displays at five-eighths for Lincoln and cut the University defence to ribbons in the final 10 minutes. Their work enabled the two wings, Warren and Davidson, to show some excellent form at full speed.

J. Keoghan handled magnificently at full-back and ably supplemented the efforts of the Lincoln forwards where A. Banks, C. L. Broad and J. Bryden were particularly prominent. The veteran, C. R. Hockley, set a fine example of hard forward play to the young University pack. R. SommerviMe played his. usual tigerish game at half-back. Apart from McNeil, the other University backs were not Impressive. Referee: Mr D. Sampson.
