Under-23 XI Selected The voung New Brighton r ght-back. G. Davis, who p.ayed for the Canterbury under-18 team on Saturday, has been selected for the second national under-23 soccer trial at English Park next Saturday. The match, between Canterbury and Otago, is the second of three trials to pfck a New Zealand under-23 team to pley Australia and the touring Hong Kong combined club side later this season. The first trial wm held In Auckland, when an Auckland team beat th* Raat of th* North Island, 3-1. Two more from Um Canterbury under-18 team —D. PTtHHps and D. Almond—have been chosen as reserves. The team includes nine from this year's senior Canterbury ride—O. Nuttridge, L. Sayer*. A. Gowans, B. Gowans, C. Martin. K. Pahi. J. Logue. T. Conley and C. Jones. The team is: Nuttridge (Oty): Davis (Brighton), Sayers (Technical): A. Gowans (City, viceeaptain), T. Riley (Shamrock), B. Gowans (City): Martin (Western), Pahl. Logue (City), Conley (Brighton, captain), Jones (Technleal). Reserves: Phillips TSh’.riey BHS ), Almond (Western), A. Caine (Brighton), A. Brooks (Western).
