ENGINE TROUBLE

Ceramic In Wellington (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 26. A blocked engine valve forced the Shaw Savill freighter Ceramic into Wellington late tonight for urgent repairs. The 15,000-ton vessel berthed at Aotea Quay about 11 p.m. A company spokesman said that the damage was not serious but “fairly involved.” It was proposed to start repairs early tomorrow and it was hoped that the vessel could continue to New Plymouth in the afternoon. The trouble occurred near Banks Peninsula this morning while the Ceramic was on her way from Timaru. The Ceramic is loading primary produce for Britain.
