M.J. Skelton On Big Smoke
"The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. M. J. Skelton wIM have the mount on Big Smoke in the Maronan Handicap, the first leg of the Ashburton Racing Club’s double today. D. P. Willson announced this before he left for Ashburton yesterday.
Skelton had the mount on Big Smoke on the first day of the Dunedin meeting when he finished sixth. The Gore apprentice, A. Borthwick, rode him on the second day when he finished seventh and J. R. Dowling rode him to win on 'he last day of the meeting. Only three of J. S. McKay's team—Startler. Sir Athol and Farmer’s Girl —left for Ashburton yesterday. They were accompanied by Calvados, a member of C. Miliar's stable.
