Parliament’s Diary
The Alcoholics Bill and the Woollen Industry Amendment Bill were introduced and read a first time in Parliament yesterday morning. Papers presented included the annual report of the Public Trust Office, and the sheep returns for the year ended June 30 last. The House took urgency to discuss an Imprest Supply Bill of the session and this produced the first filibuster of the session, as Opposition members took the opportunity to castigate the Government, mainly on health services. The interest of members waned during the tea hour, however, and the bells had to be sounded to assemble a quorum. Shortly afterwards at 6.45 p.m., there were seven Opposition and 18 Government members present The House rose at 8.15 p.m.
