The issue may be made in September, but the amount and terms of the issue will be announced before then.
8.H.P.-Esso Exploration Inc. said this afternoon that “as yet no indications of oil have been found in the Esso Gippsland Shelf No. 5 well.” B.H.P. issued this statement in response to inquiries after the company’s shares had touched 630 on the stock exchange this morning—the highest price since 1962. Rumours of a fresh oil strike in Bass Strait were current on exchange before the statement was received.
