The player had accepted the offer and it was possible he would arrive in Christchurch this week-end. France and his family were due to have sailed to New Zealand in the liner Southern Cross earlier this month and would have arrived in Christchurch on July 12. Owing to the seamen’s strike they had not been able to leave Britain.
France will join New Brighton’s present player-coach, T. Conley, the Canterbury soccer captain, under contract to the club.
