(New Zealand Press Association)
HAMILTON. Secret service agents are necessary, even in universities, members of the newly-formed Waikato University Political Society have decided. “We feel that some form of security is necessary in Auckland University, as in all other New Zealand universities, as part of the national security system,” said the secretary (Mr P. Shallard).
“However, we also feel
that secret service agents should try a bit harder to live up to their name. The unfortunate thing in Mr Godfrey’s case is that he made himself detectable.” “It is pointless to have no spies at ail in universities. This would lead to lack of continuity in the Dominion’s security system,” he said.
