Family Life Council

The Canterbury Family Life Education Council was conscious of the magnitude of its task and of the good will and interest shown in the venture, the chairman (Mrs P. Dalmer) told the annual meeting. In its first year the council adopted a constitution, prepared an information directory, drafted a syllabus for family-life courses in secondary schools and taken some part in promoting leadership and parents’ courses. The council now had 25 full members and six associate members, representing a cross-section of organisations working with families. Operation Clean Up, which aimed at improving distorted impressions of adult roles given by mass media, had been suggested as a project of the council, said Mrs Dalmer.
