Pay Increases For 30,000 (N.Z. Press Association* WELLINGTON, June 24.

New salary scales worth £1,410,000 have been approved for teachers and other employees in the education service.

About 30,000 persons will get the increases. They comprise primary and secondary teachers and student teachers, staff in technical institutes and teachers’ colleges, kindergarten teachers and student teachers, and non-teaching staff, such as librarians. Employees earning from £925 to £2205 will receive an increase of £5O and those who earn less than £925 will get increases of £l5 to £45. For those between £2710 and £2206 there will be increases of £lO to £45. The increases for these groups will be retrospective to August 1 last. There will be margin Increases, effective from April 1, of £3O to £135 for employees with salaries of £2335 or more.

For teachers paid under the centralised pay scheme, the new rates will be incorporated into the salaries paid on June 29. Payments to the others will be made as soon as possible.
