N.Z. STOCKS IN LONDON
Unsettled Market
(Special Crspdt. NfP.A >
LONDON, June 23.
New Zealand stocks on the London market remained unsettled and difficult this week —reflecting news of moves to limit the transfer of -New Zealand Government securities from the London register. Most prices showed little further change from their recent setback, but a small business took place on the 4 per cent 1976-78 stock, and the price was lowered to a new basis of 75-77, a fall of two. Seamen’s Strike
Elsewhere receding hopes of a settlement of the national seamen’s strike, now in its sixth week, was the main factor in making the market uncertain.
It also kept investment interest selective, and investors seemed content to await further developments, j Shares of companies involved in exploration in the North Sea improved on news that the gas council had reported a large find. Gilts were mainly steady, but yesterday showed falls up to 3s 9d.
