To Leave Ferrari
(NZ.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) MODENA.
The British driver, John Surtees, and the Ferrari racing team have agreed to sever relations, Ferrari announced on Wednesday.
The decision came after a meeting between the 32-year-old former world champion driver and the founder and head of the Ferrari firm, Mr Enzo Ferrari, over the dispute between Surtees and the Ferrari team chief, Mr E. Dragoni.
Surtees objected to Mr Dragoni’s decision to replace him by the Italian driver, L. Scarfiotti, in the Le Mans 24hour race last Saturday. Ferrari officials said Mr Dragoni feared Surtees had not sufficiently recovered from injuries he suffered in an accident last autumn.
