Membership Increases
With increased membership and strengthened fellowship, the Canterbury League of Mothers felt encouraged to plan with confidence, said the annuaf report. Two new branches, Burwood and Temuka, were formed, 157 new members enrolled, and much more could be accomplished. Quarterly provincial committee meetings were interesting and well attended. Annual reports from branches showed a keen and progressive spirit Ashburton, Timaru, and Walmate branches were showing progress and maintaining good attendances. A survey of the Halswell area revealed that the large new housing development of Oaklands would be suitable for a new brand).
Members gave service to many charitable organisations. More than £22 was raised by the sale of health stamps, and used clothing had been contribuaed to the Save the Children Fund.
Regret was expressed at the sudden death of Mrs A. M. Hope, a past president of the Ashburton branch.
