REFUSED ROOMS

Rolling Stones Sue Hotels (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK June 22.

The British pop musia group, the Rolling Stones, have sued 14 hotels for 5.002,500 dollars (about £N.Z. 1.8 million) in damages because it was refused overnight accommodation last Thursday. The group sued as individuals, charging that the prominent hotels, including the New York Hilton and the Waldorf-Astoria, told their agents that they did not "desire to lodge the plaintiffs and that they must go elsewhere.”

The Rolling Stones claimed that the hotels’ refusal discriminated against them “on account of their national origin.”

The writs seek 1 million dollars each in damages plus 500 dollars each as a penalty for violating a state civil rights law.
