First Run For Royal Estate

MELBOURNE. The Dunedin galloper, Royal Estate, will have his first run in Australia in the six-furlong Lawn Handicap at Flemington on July 9. Royal Estate, which won on his last three starts in New Zealand, arrived at the weekend with his trainer, A. Didham, and five other horses. Royal Estate is currently quoted on the third line of favouritism for the Caulfield Cup, and his Australian debut will be closely watched. Other members of the Dldham team here to prepare for the spring campaigns, are Bastille, Mon Amour, Bellition. Ski and Jock. Ski and Bastille have been entered for the Braybrook Handicap (one mile) at Flemington on July 2, and are also engaged in the 13-furlong Winter Handicap at Flemington a week later. The New Zealand jumper.
Te Manihera, which arrived here by ship at the week-end for the big Grand National double next month, will make his Australian debut at Mornington next week. Te Manihera was among nine horses still engaged in both the Grand National Hurdle and the Grand National Steeplechase when first acceptances closed yesterday.
