Awaiting Letter
"The Press" Special Service
WELLINGTON, June 22. The Government will announce within the next few days the constitution of a formal inquiry into events surrounding the attendance of a security agent, Mr D. Godfrey, at Auckland University.
The Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) said he was awaiting a letter from the University Council setting out a suggested order of reference for the inquiry.
The investigation would probably be undertaken by a magistrate and the Government was considering possible appointments. Because the affair had been of great public interest, said the Minister, the inquiry would probably be held in publie. So far he had received only a telegram from university authorities requesting an inquiry.
