REDUCTION OPPOSED
Bus-Drivers’ Age Limit (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 21. The Auckland Metropolitan Road Safety Council is strongly opposed to a Public Passenger Transport Association proposal to reduce the minimum age limit for busdrivers from 21 to 18. Only one member of the council, Mr I. J. Stewart, representing the Auckland Regional Authority Passenger Transport Division, supported the proposal when the council, on the request of the Commissioner of Transport, considered it today. The commissioner told the council in a letter that the association had proposed the reduction because of the shortage of reliable recruits. The council will tell the commissioner the proposed reduction is strongly opposed.
