DISSATISFACTION AT B.B.C.
(Special Crspdt. NJ! P.A ) LONDON, June 22. More than half of the 21,000 people employed by the BJB.C. want to quit, claims a recent survey carried out by the Association of Broadcasting Staff. Employees complain that pay is too low. Some are dissatisfied with their lack of responsibility. Others want a change of occupation and environment ’
i Three-quarters of the 1600 people who took part in the survey are aged between 21 and 45. Half of those who filled in the questionnaires are technicians or engineers, 36 per cent produce radio and television programmes, 10 per cent are employed in administration or finance, and the remaining 4 per cent work on maintenance of 8.8. survey, but it Is believed that the corporation management have asked to see a full report of the union’s poll. Mr T. Rhys, the association’s general secretary, said: “We have always known that the staff tum-over at the corporation is pretty terrific, but the high number of dissatisfied employees surprised us. We will be very anxious to discuss the survey with the 8.8. C. after they have seen it.” »
