The Philippines has delayed its plan to recognise Singapore because President Ferdinand Marcos wants to see if agreement with the island state can be worked out to check smuggling from there, the “Manila Times” reported today. It said that President Marcos feared that with the expected decrease in smuggling from Sabah, Singapore might become an alternative jumping board of smugglers.
