At Large For Month
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 21. An escaper, Tukurua Pihere, aged 20, was recaptured by detectives in a house in Birkenhead last night. Pihere telephoned Detective Sergeant R. J. Squires, of Takapuna, just after 6 p.m. and said he was prepared to surrender. Pihere escaped with two other youths from the Hamilton police station cells on May 18. The others were caught soon afterwards and Pihere narrowly avoided recapture in Birkdale on Saturday.
