FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex trough of low pressure is moving eastwards over New Zealand. Forecast; Marlborough Sounds.—Northerlies, fresh to strong in exposed areas; elsewhere moderate; rain becoming widespread during the day; moderate temperatures. Nelson and Marlborough.—Northerlies decreasing and becoming variable; unsettled with occasional rain; little change in temperatures. Canterbury.—Moderate northerlies becoming variable during the day and probably tending south-westerly; rain in the ranges; occasional light rain elsewhere; cooler temperatures. Buller and Westland. —Fresh to strong north-easterlies; rain heavy at times; improving later. Outlook: Mainly fair.
