THREW FOOD ON STREET
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 20. The first person to be prosecuted as a result of the Auckland City Council's four months old anti-litter campaign was convicted by Mr C. E. H. Pledger, S.M., today. Edward Hillman, aged 43, a driver, was fined £2 10s. He had been charged with casting litter in a public place. Traffic Officer L. T. Dunn told the Court that Hillman while driving a truck in the city, on March 23, threw a parcel of wrapped sandwiches on to the roadway. When he was stopped he said he thought the birds would like the sandwiches.
