REFEREE’S RETURN
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. New Zealand’s top Rugby referee in recent seasons, Mr J. P. Murphy, of North Auckland, will control the Lions match against Bay of Plenty on July 6. His appointment was approved by the New Zealand Rugby Union executive last night.
Mr Murphy was injured and forced to retire during last year’s third test between the All Blacks and the Springboks.
A medical certificate from the North Auckland Union said Mr Murphy’s leg had made a full recovery and he was now able to referee any match without fear of relapse.
