GIFT DOLPHIN DIES
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 19. Sydney’s Taronga Park Zoo received two dolphins from New Zealand —in exchange for a photograph. But one has since died. The dolphins were a gift from Napier through Its Mayor (Mr P. Tait).
In exchange he received from the honorary director of the zoo, Sir Edward Hallstrom, a picture of “the most amazing creature of the seven seas,” the dolphin, Pelorus Jack. The dead dolphin, Splasher, “never really settled down and died
last Sunday morning,” said Mr Tait A post-mortem examination by a leading Sydney pathologist indicated that Splasher died from sustained shock, Mr Tait said. The other dolphin, Jenco, was thriving.
