Timaru Beats Christchurch After a storybook ending to Its semi final match with Otago Christchurch lost to Timaru in the final of the southern section of the Cousins Shield squash competition at Ashburton at the week-end. At two matches all with Otago, everything depended on the No. 4 Christchurch player. N A Justice. He produced a mixture of good and bad squash to be level with Otago’s J. Cullen at two games all. In the fifth game Justice excelled hlmscf to take an 8-5 lead. He failed to win the point for the match and Cullen recovered brilliantly to level at 8-aIl. Cullen then had four match points. Justice played safely, however, and when he had his own third chance at 9-all he played a fine forehand into the nick to take the match. 10-9. In the final Timaru won the first three matches against Christchurch to gain an unbeat able lead, but convincing win. bv J. Henderson and L. G. Milne narrowed the over all winning margin to 3-2. Details of the final (Timaru names first); G. L. Bird beat R. M. Garrett. 3-1: W A. Green lost to J. Henderson. 0-3; D. t.yon lost to L. G. Milne. 1-3: B. Hardtner beat N. A. Justice. 3-1: R. Havnes beat R. D. Monk. 3-0.
