Thefts At Hostels
Thefts were committed at two Youth Hostels Association hostels at the week-end. The sum of £2l was taken from the hostel at 9 Eveleyn Couzins avenue, Richmond, and a fees box, containing an unknown sum of money, was taken from Montgomery house, Hilltop, Akaroa. The store at English park was entered through a window on Friday night and 2000 cigarettes were stolen. Between midnight and 8.30 ajn. on Saturday the storeroom of Dunlop (N.Z.), Ltd., at Woolston was broken into and 800 plastic bags, valued at £l2, were stolen. A crash helmet, valued at £9, was taken from outside the ice-skating rink in Centaurus road. The sum of £9 was stolen from a taxi in Dewsbury lane, Sydenham, about 9.30 p.m. on Saturday. A man was arrested about lajn. on Saturday and will be charged with breaking and entering a house in Antigua street
Two young men were arrested about 9.15 pun. on Saturday and will be charged with breaking into the premises of Auto Parts, Ltd., 48 Tuam street
