New W.E.A. Project

The Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association may start a pottery and wood sculpture studio workshop at its centre in Gloucester street. The president (the Rev. D. J. Inglis) said the project was badly needed in Christchurch. It would entail the conversion of a double garage into a suitable workshop, and new lighting, plumbing and heating. Voluntary help would be needed, and equipment including a kiln and pottery wheels would have to be built or bought. If a suitable tutor was found, at least two classes a week were planned, as well as. work by the pottery and wbod sculpture clubs. Next Friday a meeting would be held at the centre to discuss the project and ways of meeting the cost of about £lOOO.
