GROWING SUCCESSFULLY.—This chou moellier growing on Homebush, Coalgate, was sown directly into a sward after the old pasture had been sprayed to kill or check the existing vegetation. A second application of chemical was given between drilling and emergence to further suppress clover growth. Highest yields have been obtained where 1½ cwt of sulphate of ammonia was also broadcast shortly after sowing. Mr R. Taylor, a research officer of the research and development department of Imperial Chemical Industries (N.Z.), Ltd., is standing by the crop.
